The PLS Guidelines for Success are
The following criteria are used when assigning points towards the "PLS 5" grading category each week:

| Treats self and others with respect, and follows classroom guidelines.
Uses time wisely during class and is always on task. Always well prepared for class and learning is a priority. Evident that individual has completed all assignments prior to class. Exhibits positive, supportive attitude toward class content and classmates. Accepts responsibility for actions without blaming others for failures or shortcomings. Consistently contributes to class discussions. Consistently contributes to in-class activities and takes an active role in cleaning up when finished. Displays a positive attitude at all times. |
Demonstration of the PLS 5 is as good as one receiving a distinguished rating, but one or two elements are not quite at a distinguished level. | Demonstration of the PLS 5 is generally similar to one receiving an unsatisfactory rating, but there are one or two elements which are relatively well done. | Does not use time wisely during class. Often not on task.
Seldom prepared for class. Evident that individual has not completed assignments prior to class. Learning is not a priority Exhibits negative attitudes toward classroom activities and classmates. Does not contribute to class discussions or in-class activities. Does not offer to clean up when finished. Is often disrespectful to classmates, teacher, and guests. Has a poor attitude. |
*Ten points are possible on weeks when the class meets for five full class periods. During shortened weeks, fewer than ten points are possible and scores are prorated accordingly.
